I take a break

...

I take a break, a little break from the blog, it happens sometimes to be no arguments and this year has started out this way.
I need to take a break by this virtual routine, I'll follow the blogs to which they are most fond of but for a period of time I will not be present on these pages.
In the event that there are some followers, well, thank you for your insane perseverance!

EL SOLITARIO #1

Survivor 1958 Harley Davidson Duo Glide. Never restored, not for the timid, temperamental, yet adorable, road assault vehicle. The most reverenced girl in El Solitario’s garage and the one responsible for the sanity of our fractious herd. A legend. [...]

EL SOLITARIO - OVERVIEW PART 3

GONZO

1976 BMW R45.

This is our shop bike & has been around for almost twenty years. Terribly underpowered but indestructible machine.
Built in the wink of an eye, as we faced no pressure for results nor were we looking for a posh finish or complicated technical solutions.
Number 1 premise was to get rid of everything that wasn’t really necessary for safe on/off road trippin and number 2, was to do everything in-house, keeping time and expenses low.
Although confessed admirers of Hunter S. Thompson, the name Gonzo does not come from his attitude journalism, but because of the resemblance of the bike with the great Gonzo from The Muppets. [...]

BAULA

BAULA (Words by Gary Inman, photography by KT Fender)

Baula is the Spanish name for leatherback turtle, the huge prehistoric sea creatures that inspired the build. It was commissioned by one of El Solitario’s friends, Jimmy. Years earlier, the pair had hidden, drunk, in the grass of a Costa Rican beach as leatherbacks dragged their bulk up the sandy to lay eggs.  Squint and you can see the resemblance, stuck out in the breeze cylinders and heads are Baula’s flippers. This behemoth is marginally better on land than in water though. Baula started life as a 1969 R75-5. [...]

CHUPITO

Chupito (shot in english) is a lightly modified special, built around a 1977 Ducati Road 350. The original bike was manufactured under Ducati license in Barcelona by Mototrans and was commissioned by one of our best friends, Edu, who is a 3D artist/movie designer, and a great tequila drinker. Being all his life surrounded by comics, monsters & superheroes, when we were asked to build him a small city bike to dribble around Madrid’s lights, we knew it would have to be fun from A to Z and very reliable, as the bike would be used daily. [...]

WINNING LOSER

The Winning Loser was El Solitario’s first ever bike to be built from scratch, and it was executed to perform in the first edition of the extint Metamorfosis Masiva garage builders contest in Spain. The only two rules to participate in this contest were, to transform a Yamaha SR250 & to spend less than €1.000 in parts.
There was no limit on the amount of hours we could spend fabricating and that is what we did. With over 500 hours the Winning Loser is a true example of what constitutes an El Solitario One-Of-a-Kind Motorcycle. [...]

MARRAJO

Marrajo, (spanish for Mako Shark), although a mild job, it will be audaciously fun, as its new owner, and will, no doubts, victoriously race all other surfers for the best wave in the Canary Island of Fuerteventura [...]

TRIMOTORO

The original Trimotoro was a revolutionary vehicle intended to travel the world with imagination as only fuel. This creature was our main fountain of inspiration, although we decided to stick to gasoline for power. This custom motorcycle stands along Baula on the high end of El Solitario range. A heavily modified special, custom ordered by a very special client, seeking that “something more” you cannot find elsewhere. [...]
